Since its release last Tuesday, FEELS LIKE CAROLINA has captured the attention of some of music’s most prominent tastemakers:

“. . . [a] deeply amiable album. . .while Parmalee makes misbehavior sound cuddly, it’s especially well equipped for regret.  That’s what animates not only “Carolina,” but also the album closer “Another Day Gone,” which opens with Matt Thomas singing ruefully, “I screwed up seven summers in one afternoon gone wrong,” and only gets more bruised from there. -Jon Caramanica, The New York Times

“Parmalee’s debut album, “Feels Like Carolina” (Stoney Creek), is so good that the band is perched on the edge of an overnight success story. . .” -Glenn Gamboa, Newsday

“. . .these guys are a throwback to bands that fleshed out melodies with tight harmonies and classic-rock guitar riffs.” -Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY

“. . . their chemistry as a band and authentic love for both genres comes through with a powerful kick. ‘Feels Like Carolina’ feels really good as Parmalee holds a torch for a new brand of contemporary country and Southern rock.”-Darryl Addison, Great American Country (GAC)

“It [Feels Like Carollina] results in a twelve-song collection that never repeats an idea, full of songs that never feel like filler. It’s a generous act and anyone who knows that it takes this sort of artistic bravery to keep a music genre progressing should write a “thank you” to Parmalee this Christmas.” -Greg Victor, Parcbench.com

“There are more hits to be found on ‘Feels Like Carolina,’ a country debut to truly be proud of.” -Billy Dukes, Taste of Country

“CAROLINA” COUNTRY NOW VIDEO PREMIERE

parmalee-carolina-music-video-screen-shot

“CAROLINA” IS FIRST-EVER VIDEO TO DEBUT ON COUNTRY NOW

BAND TO APPEAR ON EPISODE OF HEAR & NOW ON TUESDAY, JUNE 25

Today, Parmalee unveils the brand new music video for its current smash single, “Carolina”, exclusively on YouTube’s Country Now. This is the first music video to premiere on the online channel.

Co-Directed by Jonathan Frazier and Zach Prichard of Rhetorik Creative, the video was shot at Studio Berry Hill, minutes from Downtown Nashville and Music Row. “Carolina” serves as homage to the band’s home state of North Carolina and to life on the road. The video is comprised of three scenes: The girl back home missing her love; the touring musician longing to be home; and a performance by Parmalee, which serves as a juxtaposition between the two.

“The directors did a great job of taking ‘Carolina’ and putting a creative twist on it for the video,” said lead singer Matt Thomas. “It’s a song about the people you love and how they make you feel at home no matter where you are. I think the video really hits that, but in a way you haven’t seen before.”

“I really like their [the directors’] concept of having three scenes that are separate, but connected all at the same time,” added Barry Knox, bass player for Parmalee. “And then there’s the twist at the end. I’m excited for our fans to see it.”

ABOUT PARMALEE: Parmalee is a family band comprised of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas (Lead Vocals/Guitar and Drums, respectively), cousin Barry Knox (Bass) and life-long best friend Josh McSwain (Guitar).

Parmalee’s current single, “Carolina,” was the #2 Most Added at Country radio upon release, second only to superstar Kenny Chesney. In March 2013, the band achieved a lifelong dream when it made its Grand Ole Opry debut.

The group’s debut single, “Musta Had A Good Time” hit Top 40 last year at Country radio and placed #7 in the Top 10 Country Dance Hits of 2012 (Marco Club Connection). Additionally, the song has been featured in national sporting event broadcasts for the PGA and MLB.

Influenced by such musical heavyweights as the Allman Brothers, Travis Tritt and Bob Seger, the band’s name is derived from the small town of Parmele, NC (population 262), which is home to a gas station, two blinking yellow lights and a small tin-roofed barn dubbed Studio B where the band practiced on every given evening.

Cutting their teeth on the Southeastern touring circuit and known for their fun-loving live shows, the members of Parmalee endured a tumultuous journey to Nashville which included dangerous pit stops, catastrophic weather and a near-fatal robbery that would have torn most bands apart. Instead, Parmalee’s deep Country roots, intense motivation, and band-of-brothers sense of dedication brought the tight-knit crew even closer together.
